I hope you enjoy the first episode of my podcast and, as always, I look forward to your feedback.

Podcast episode 1 transcript to read

Hello and welcome to the Rennrad Hamburg podcast!
Today is the first episode and I would like to introduce myself a little first so that he can get to know me. One thing should be said in advance for the people who have been cycling for years, they can then jump back a few episodes and read the headlines. The purpose of my podcast is really to introduce everyone who is interested in road cycling, or cycling in general, to the topic and of course to provide a little help and advice to support the project and hopefully lead it to the desired success . All the information that I make available here I have also made available in my blog at Rennrad-hamburg.de, which does not mean that I constantly read everything and just speak to her again. That just means that I've definitely recorded it there in the last few years.

How my development went like this

A few words about me:
My name is Raimund Sperling, I live in Hamburg. I was born here and I will probably die here too. The city is pretty nice and I'm passionate about racing bikes. I was born in 1975, so I'm really not that young anymore and I started racing in 2015. From my adolescence to young adulthood, I did competitive sports and even went kayaking in white water downhill races, which was quite successful When the time comes, it's time to go back to work. Man starts a family and at some point it hits and then you say hey, maybe you shouldn't do something for yourself or something for your character, for me it was like I said in 2015 I was 40 years old then

[0:01:59-0:02:59]
and I had 120 kg on the clock at 1490 that didn't spread either I wouldn't describe myself as extremely overweight but I was overweight let's stay with that also it feels really different for the body when you're a little tightened up it's as if you were just there picture so angry you just have to say that in the future that I have a sedentary job I'm a product manager where of course I sit in my office chair almost the whole day and the whole musculature on the body is not particularly well developed is long story short in the year I came up with the idea I absolutely have to buy myself a bike why because as a teenager I used my bike to get things done as a big city kid I didn't do anything special for my driver's license which I only got when I was 25 before I've always been on my bike my whole life and it was like that for a long time

[0:02:59-0:03:58]
a racing bike back then was nothing great from the beautiful Karstadt brand Condor but that was completely okay for me that was completely okay for you that was one of my means of transport in 2015 as a professional you go out and look at different things but before that of course there is the network research As I said, with my 120 kg, I didn't dare to buy a super extreme racer right away. Of course I was afraid that I was far too unsportsmanlike, maybe even too heavy for the bike and that the people in the shop would look at me funny anyway, then I got one did a bit of research and found the genre that was almost exotic in 2015 cyclocrosser Extremely interesting for me, so my research went in this direction. Of course, you won’t find all the information on the web

[0:03:59-0:04:59]
you can perhaps already see which colors you particularly like. Oh wonder, for me it was somehow black, best matt black and a few interesting brands you can also find the step to the dealer, but in no case is it spared and I really want everyone Discourage newbies from buying any bike on the internet, I'll tell you something doesn't fit even if you start to miss each other following instructions from Rose or Canyon or else because of you are already quite serious even measuring has to be learned and the frame size is not everything the saddle position is very very very important you over is even more important and after all you want to have a bike that is fun to ride and one small thing by the way I haven't seen a dealer who didn't give the same price as the discounters online and I'm serious you don't have to look long man has

[0:04:59-0:05:59]
I might have looked online at a model or at a manufacturer to see what it should look like and then just googled which bicycle dealer nearby offers this brand. It was just right for me that wasn't far I farted cyclefactory in Hamburg-Altona because they had then Centurion They still have wheels and I was only in the shows Cyclocrosser cx2000 Damn I wanted to ride it so I went there and oh wonder oh wonder they had exactly the same bike as the seller Sami and said you don't need it that big but maybe it's because my 194cm don't even work for me so big made of sand i was a bit wider so he measured and he saw ok you need a 60 frame so full size or something 61 i can't tell you correctly today so measure it then i said ok that I would like to test ride the bike, but in this size

[0:05:59-0:06:59]
Of course it isn't assembled but that wasn't a problem at all because we set off my wife and I went to IKEA for something to eat I still like to eat and an hour later the dealer had assembled the bike in my size and I was allowed to test ride it, so let's go the farm he watched me a bit, shot a bit here and there and then he probably saw that I had fallen in love with the model yes and in the end I bought it he adjusted it a bit more precisely and that was by no means a wrong decision simplified whether I paid 2000 € for the cx1000 at cyclefactory and a biscuit so no 1000 100 and the whole thing including fitting and all the trimmings you really can't complain the bike has a Shimano Tiagra is totally okay for the cyclocrosser

[0:06:59-0:07:59]
For a racing bike in this price range, you can actually have one  Shimano 105s I didn't expect any equipment at the time, but as I said, I didn't know that thiagra it does it is robust and it still runs on the bike despite several 1000km I think the bike has now 8 or 9000km down and that's still the first set on it so don't go crazy with the equipment next time you buy it or if I do I advise a friend who wants to buy a racing bike but a pure racing bike I always say at least 105 and you get that for the money in any case don't let others drive you crazy when it comes to buying a certain market that really makes little sense looks just try out the racing bikes yourself and see what suits you best and honestly, of course, looks play a role, you want to have a cool bike, seriously, that's not insignificant, so that's much more easy to see

[0:07:59-0:08:58]
times and you have to feel good it's like if you want to get a dog it has to fit it's chemistry because you have to invest a lot of money in this bike and want to keep it for a long time so remember feel free to ask friends and acquaintances let yourself be a little and it's also nice if you come along to the retailer, but in the end the retailer should advise you - the experience of others usually brings a kind of price comparison and whether the retailer has really made a good price - but in fact pretty much all retailers do that at least I know it here in Hamburg because no one tries to rip you off now we are already at the end of my first episodes of the podcast from Rennrad Hamburg and in the next episode I would like to tell you something about the first rides and the first training sessions about the first development, because on a racing bike or cyclocross, like in my case, that goes very, very quickly and then knocked out one thinks of the first purchase of the racing bike

[0:08:59-0:09:06]
about the next purchases, but I'll tell you about that next time

Bye bye and see you soon at the podcast from Road bike Hamburg
