Road bike, gravel and bikepacking
Right from the start
At what distance road bike marathons begin and when it becomes ultracycling is almost a question of faith. In marathons with a racing bike, i.e. road bike, marathons start at 200 km and usually do not go beyond 400 km in one piece. However, there are now various types of racing bikes, especially the gravel bike plays a very important role in marathons and ultracycling. So if you ride a gravel bike through the terrain, I would say that gravel marathons start at 150 km. Gravel as a surface is much more demanding and the speed is not nearly as high as on the road.
The third year that we start with Corona, but somehow I'm more optimistic than in the last two years. I've actually already started planning this year and I'm really looking forward to the next few months, in which I'll be cycling many roads, paths and trails.
